It's always nice to read about players, goalkeepers, coaches and managers, but their exploits would be orphaned by readers and fans, if there were no reality and people like Floorballmania and our host.
Today Floorballmania wants to pay homage to the work of an average floorball professional, young but already highly regarded in our world.
From the Czech Republic, on the channels of Floorballmania, Gustav Ondrejcik media and commentator of great class.
1) Hi Gustav, how are you and how are you experiencing this particular moment of pandemic? Who is Gustav Ondrejcik in everyday life?
Hello, I would like to greet all readers of Floorballmania! These times are very tough of course. We have to stay at home all the time. There is no sport for amateurs and no entertainment. Unfortunately, nothing we can do about it. Health is the most important thing what we need. I hope all my relatives and friends stay safe.
I have been on home office since March 2020. I work as an editor of a digital archive of sports division in the Czech Television. And at the same time, I work as a floorball editor for Florbal.cz and I work also for my home club Sokol Vinohrady. That did not change during pandemic.
2) Let's get straight to the heart, how do you comment on a Floorball match? Could his speed of play create problems in the commentary?
I started to be commentator seven years ago but we commented only a few matches. It was more fun than serious job. Because of pandemic situations and absence of spectators we started commenting many more matches. Clubs and Czech Floorball Union try to improve streams of floorball matches. And that´s why I am busier.
I think there is no problem with the speed of a game. Floorball is a dynamic sport but I don´t need to describe every situation or moment on the pitch. It is important to choose correct words. People are watching the match and they see everything on the pitch, so you can just only add some interesting information. We have a saying for that in Czech language: Less is sometimes more.
3) How much is the real audience missing from a commentary? Does the presence of fans help or disturb the presence of fans in a sports hall?
Floorball matches without spectators are really strange. All sports matches are strange without fans actually. I hope they will be back as soon as possible. We need enough emotions.
4) What does Gustav prefer the news or the Interviews to the players? And why?
I cannot choose one of that. I like both. You couldn´t have context without news and you couldn´t have emotions without interviews. I would say we need both. To be honest I prefer podcasts. It is great opportunity to go in deep. It is very interesting to talk about floorball with players, coaches and experts.
5) The World Cup is approaching in Brno will you be there? How is the Czech Republic organizing for this great event?
Hopefully yes. It is very hard to prepare this kind of tournament in these days affected by a pandemic. However, Czech Floorball Union have organized a lot of great events in the past, Women Wordl Cup 2013 and World Cup 2018 for example. And I am fully convinced it will be another great event.
6) Did you know our Floorballmania editorial project? As an insider, what do you think?
I noticed that on a social media. I must say that I am very excited about every effort to popularize floorball and sports in general. It is not easy! We need to have a lot of space where we can read about sport, discuss about some topics and talk about matches and players. Thanks for this project!

1) Ciao Gustav, come stai e come stai vivendo questo particolare momento di pandemia? Chi è Gustav Ondrejcik nella vita di tutti i giorni?
Ciao, vorrei salutare tutti i lettori di Floorballmania! Questi tempi sono ovviamente molto duri. Dobbiamo stare a casa tutto il tempo. Non c'è sport per dilettanti e non c'è intrattenimento. Sfortunatamente, non possiamo farci niente. La salute è la cosa più importante di cui abbiamo bisogno. Spero che tutti i miei parenti e amici stiano al sicuro.
Lavoro a casa da marzo 2020. Lavoro come redattore di un archivio digitale della divisione sportiva della televisione ceca. Allo stesso tempo, lavoro come redattore di floorball per Florbal.cz e lavoro anche per il mio club di casa Sokol Vinohrady. Ciò non è cambiato durante la pandemia.
2) Veniamo subito al cuore, come commentate una partita di Floorball? La sua velocità di gioco potrebbe creare problemi nel commento?
Ho iniziato a fare il telecronista sette anni fa ma abbiamo commentato solo poche partite. È stato più divertente che un lavoro serio. A causa delle situazioni pandemiche e dell'assenza di spettatori abbiamo iniziato a commentare molte altre partite. I club e la Czech Floorball Union cercano di migliorare i flussi di partite di floorball. Ed è per questo che sono più impegnato.
Penso che non ci siano problemi con la velocità di un gioco. Il floorball è uno sport dinamico ma non ho bisogno di descrivere ogni situazione o momento in campo. È importante scegliere le parole corrette. Le persone guardano la partita e vedono tutto in campo, quindi puoi solo aggiungere alcune informazioni interessanti. Abbiamo un detto per questo in lingua ceca: a volte meno è meglio.
3) Quanto manca al vero pubblico in un commento? La presenza dei tifosi aiuta o disturba la presenza dei tifosi in un palazzetto dello sport?
Le partite di floorball senza spettatori sono davvero strane. Tutte le partite sportive sono strane senza fan in realtà. Spero che tornino il prima possibile. Abbiamo bisogno di abbastanza emozioni.
4) Che cosa Gustav preferisce le notizie o le interviste ai giocatori? E perché?
Non posso sceglierne uno. Mi piacciono entrambi. Non potresti avere un contesto senza notizie e non potresti avere emozioni senza interviste. Direi che abbiamo bisogno di entrambi. Ad essere sincero preferisco i podcast. È una grande opportunità per andare in profondità. È molto interessante parlare di floorball con giocatori, allenatori ed esperti.
5) La Coppa del Mondo si avvicina a Brno ci sarai? Come si sta organizzando la Repubblica Ceca per questo grande evento?
Speriamo di si. È molto difficile preparare questo tipo di torneo in questi giorni colpiti da una pandemia. Tuttavia, la Czech Floorball Union ha organizzato molti grandi eventi in passato, ad esempio la Women Wordl Cup 2013 e la Coppa del mondo 2018. E sono pienamente convinto che sarà un altro grande evento.
6) Conoscevi il nostro progetto editoriale Floorballmania? Come insider, cosa ne pensi?
L'ho notato su un social media. Devo dire che sono molto entusiasta di ogni sforzo per rendere popolare il floorball e lo sport in generale. Non è facile! Dobbiamo avere molto spazio dove leggere di sport, discutere di alcuni argomenti e parlare di partite e giocatori. Grazie per questo progetto!
