How many projects are there in the world?
Surely many and there are also many in floorball, today we at Floorballmania bring you to know one of these projects that is doing very well.
Born from the love of this sport and above all from the love for a specific role of this crazy sport,which makes speed of play its essence, a match is never over until the sound of the bell.
But there is a particular role in this sport that very often turns out to be decided, if whoever plays it is fit would represent 50% of the result in the economy of the game. We are talking about the goalkeeper and today we present the WFGA project.
The World Floorball Goalie Academy is an important project, which is growing very young goalkeepers, giving them all the useful information on this role.
The founder of this beautiful reality is Thomas Fibiger, former goalkeeper of the Tatran Střešovice team, goalkeeper coach of the Czech U19 national team to whom we are pleased to ask some questions.

1) Hi Thomas thank you for accepting our interview. First of all, how are you and how are you experiencing this sad moment that is involving the whole world?
Hi Dario and all floorball maniacs, thank you for your invitation. I have to say it is a pleasure to talk with you and be part of your floorball mania TV.
At first I hope everyone reading this article is safe and healthy. I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about the Corona situation. I started my project earlier this year (around February of 2020) and first Corona wave helped me to start my individual sessions with goalkeepers.
There was no possibility to train with clubs so all goalkeepers have been visiting my individual training sessions.
But when the Corona situations have become worse and worse and I also had to close my studio… everything went from 100 to 0.
In that situation I tried to work on my PR and marketing thing and I made the WFGA known to people all over the world with free online training sessions at least.
The second wave of the Corona situation isn't as good as the previous one…
I had to close my studio immediately after the lockdown of the whole Czech Republic and get a little bit tired of all those plans I had and had to stop them or throw them into the trash. I am improving my online workflow at least to be ready when a similar situation will come in the future.

2) Let's talk about you, who are you and what do you do in life as well as helping little goalkeepers to become great champions?
I am Tomáš Fibiger, I am 24 years old and I am a freelancer. I am a full time personal goalkeeper coach for all goalkeepers all around the world.
I have my own academy where I work with several goalkeepers on an individual basis and I also have a cooperation with a few clubs across the Czech Republic and also one team in Sweden. I am also a goalkeeper coach of the Czech national team U19 from the year of 2017.
National team isn´t just a single thing I am doing for Czech Floorball federation… I am also a guarantor of goalkeeper development for the whole Czech Floorball federation. And last thing I can say about myself is that I am a graphic designer in my free time and my biggest partner in graphic design is Sideline Sport - XPS Network.
3) When was the idea of creating the academy dedicated to goalkeepers born? Where are you exactly and where is your operational headquarters? We know them in the Czech Republic but where exactly?
I am a goalkeeper coach for 6 - 7 years, but my passion for floorball and goalkeeping especially
started earlier. I started playing floorball in 2008 and from there I knew I wanted to spend as much time as possible in floorball.
After my few successes as a goalkeeper itself (championship title U19 of Czech Republic, bronze medal from the WFC U19 2015 in Helsingborg and few others..) I started to feel I want to share some of my experiences with younger goalkeepers in my club Tatran Střešovice. Overall…
I really love to speak with the people, talk about their lives and so on… and when there was a chance to speak with them, do what I love - floorball and also teach them some new things...
I really found myself. So I started a goalkeeper academy in Tatran in 2014 and was slowly building one and only goalkeeper academy on club level. I have to thank Jiří Jakoubek (former sports director of Tatran Střešovice) who gave me a chance and also trusted me in the beginning of my coaching career.
After those bright times in Tatran, where I built a really stable and good goalkeeper academy I can say, I came up with the idea of pushing this passion to another level and leave the club level and establish my own World Floorball Goalie Academy and give all goalkeepers a chance to achieve their dreams.

My academy is located in Prague - Kbely, Luštěnická 723/13. And I have to thank another person.
My thanks go to my really good friend Marek Mandelbaum, who let me do goalkeeper practices in his fitness center. Without him I wouldn't be able to start my academy at all.
4) Are you inclined to move to other countries, to do Camps dedicated to this role?
That is a tough question in these times… I want to spread into other countries for sure but my main goal is to build a strong site especially in the Czech Republic and after I will have it under control here I can think about the next step. But I can say my dream is to start a regular camp in the United States of America and that is what I will aim for in the future.
5) How does the registration to your courses work? Do companies ask you for collaborations?
Goalkeepers can register themselves via my website where I have a calendar with my free hours and also a registration link.
If they want something else than individual sessions in my academy, they can write me on Instagram, Messenger or Email and we can make something like online practice, match analysis, consultation and few other things.
As I wrote earlier… I have cooperation with 4 clubs from the Czech Republic (Tatran Střešovice, Sparta Praha, Kanonýři Kladno and Prague Tigers) and with 1 club from Sweden (SK Hässelby Innebandy).
I am not actively searching for clubs cooperation but if there is a club which wants to cooperate with me I am open to discuss.

6) Is there a minimum age in your courses or are you open to different categories? Obviously male and female?
I am open to any age of goalkeepers. I think I can adapt to any level of goalkeepers and give them the best possible information they need in their age. For sure I work with both genders.
7) What do you think an athlete must have to become a goalkeeper? What features do you look for in each of them?
I think one of the most important things every athlete should have is passion and he has to love his sport and what he is doing. He also needs to be hard-working and he doesn't have to be afraid of failure.
He also has to be able to adapt to new things and has to want to try new things the coach says to him. When I see those abilities in a goalkeeper I work with I can predict big things for him.

8) How do you think a goalkeeper should behave during a penalty? What advice would you give him?
He has to stay calm at first and try to analyze the plan of his opponent. From which side is he going, where he has a ball (backhand, forehand), how quickly is he going and a lot of other aspects he has to think about. But to be able to analyze those things, he has to stay calm.
9) If you were to describe the role of the floorball goalkeeper in a school lesson, how would you describe it?
That one weird guy who let others shoot him and everyone is laughing on him, but everyone needs him in the team. They have to respect him for what he has to face during the match and they have to know that when they will support him for what he is doing, he is going to do everything he can to win the match.

Quanti progetti ci sono nel mondo?
Sicuramente tanti e ce ne sono anche tanti nel floorball, oggi noi di Floorballmania vi portiamo a conoscere uno di questi progetti che sta andando molto bene.
Nato dall'amore per questo sport e soprattutto dall'amore per un ruolo specifico di questo folle sport, che fa della velocità di gioco la sua essenza, un incontro non finisce mai fino al suono della campana.
Ma c'è un ruolo particolare in questo sport che molto spesso risulta essere deciso, se chi lo gioca fosse in forma rappresenterebbe il 50% del risultato nell'economia del gioco. Stiamo parlando del portiere e oggi vi presentiamo il progetto WFGA.
La World Floorball Goalie Academy è un progetto importante, che sta facendo crescere portieri giovanissimi, dando loro tutte le informazioni utili su questo ruolo.
Il fondatore di questa bellissima realtà è Thomas Fibiger, ex portiere della squadra di Tatran Střešovice, allenatore dei portieri della nazionale ceca U19 al quale siamo lieti di porre alcune domande.
1) Ciao Thomas, grazie per aver accettato la nostra intervista. Innanzitutto come stai e come stai vivendo questo triste momento che sta coinvolgendo il mondo intero?
Ciao Dario e tutti i maniaci del floorball, grazie per il vostro invito. Devo dire che è un piacere parlare con te ed essere parte della tua mania del floorball TV.
All'inizio spero che tutti quelli che leggono questo articolo siano sani e salvi. Devo ammettere che ho sentimenti contrastanti sulla situazione di Corona. Ho iniziato il mio progetto all'inizio di quest'anno (intorno a febbraio 2020) e la prima onda Corona mi ha aiutato a iniziare le mie sessioni individuali con i portieri.
Non c'era la possibilità di allenarsi con i club, quindi tutti i portieri hanno visitato le mie sessioni di allenamento individuali.
Ma quando le situazioni Corona si sono aggravate e ho dovuto chiudere anche il mio studio… tutto è passato da 100 a 0.
In quella situazione ho provato a lavorare sulle mie cose di PR e marketing e ho fatto conoscere la WFGA a persone di tutto il mondo con sessioni di formazione online gratuite almeno.
La seconda ondata della situazione Corona non è buona come la precedente ...
Ho dovuto chiudere il mio studio subito dopo la chiusura di tutta la Repubblica Ceca e stancarmi un po 'di tutti quei piani che avevo e dovevo fermarli o gettarli nella spazzatura. Sto migliorando il mio flusso di lavoro online almeno per essere pronto quando una situazione simile si presenterà in futuro.
2) Parliamo di te, chi sei e cosa fai nella vita oltre ad aiutare i piccoli portieri a diventare grandi campioni?
Sono Tomáš Fibiger, ho 24 anni e sono un libero professionista. Sono un allenatore personale a tempo pieno per tutti i portieri di tutto il mondo.
Ho la mia accademia in cui lavoro con diversi portieri su base individuale e ho anche una collaborazione con alcuni club in tutta la Repubblica Ceca e anche una squadra in Svezia. Sono anche un allenatore dei portieri della nazionale ceca U19 dall'anno 2017.
La nazionale non è solo una cosa che sto facendo per la federazione ceca di floorball ... Sono anche un garante dello sviluppo dei portieri per l'intera federazione ceca di floorball. E l'ultima cosa che posso dire di me è che sono un grafico nel tempo libero e il mio più grande partner nella progettazione grafica è Sideline Sport - XPS Network.
3) Quando è nata l'idea di creare l'accademia dedicata ai portieri?Dove sei esattamente e dov'è la tua sede operativa? Li conosciamo nella Repubblica Ceca, ma dove esattamente?
Sono un allenatore di portieri per 6-7 anni, ma soprattutto la mia passione per il floorball e il portiere
iniziato prima. Ho iniziato a giocare a floorball nel 2008 e da lì ho capito che volevo dedicare più tempo possibile al floorball.
Dopo i miei pochi successi come portiere stesso (titolo del campionato U19 della Repubblica Ceca, medaglia di bronzo del WFC U19 2015 a Helsingborg e pochi altri ..) ho iniziato a sentire di voler condividere alcune delle mie esperienze con i portieri più giovani del mio club Tatran Střešovice. Complessivamente…
Mi piace molto parlare con le persone, parlare delle loro vite e così via ... e quando c'è stata la possibilità di parlare con loro, fai ciò che amo: il floorball e insegna loro anche alcune cose nuove ...
Mi sono davvero ritrovato. Così ho avviato un'accademia dei portieri a Tatran nel 2014 e stavo lentamente costruendo una e l'unica accademia dei portieri a livello di club. Devo ringraziare Jiří Jakoubek (ex direttore sportivo di Tatran Střešovice) che mi ha dato una possibilità e si è anche fidato di me all'inizio della mia carriera da allenatore.
Dopo quei bei tempi a Tatran, dove ho costruito un'accademia dei portieri davvero stabile e buona posso dire, mi è venuta l'idea di spingere questa passione ad un altro livello e lasciare il livello del club e fondare la mia World Floorball Goalie Academy e dare tutto portieri la possibilità di realizzare i propri sogni.
La mia accademia si trova a Praga - Kbely, Luštěnická 723/13. E devo ringraziare un'altra persona.

4) Sei propenso a trasferirti in altri paesi, a fare Camps dedicati a questo ruolo?
Questa è una domanda difficile in questi tempi ... Voglio sicuramente diffondermi in altri paesi, ma il mio obiettivo principale è costruire un sito forte soprattutto nella Repubblica Ceca e dopo averlo sotto controllo qui posso pensare al prossimo passo. Ma posso dire che il mio sogno è iniziare un campo regolare negli Stati Uniti d'America ed è quello a cui punterò in futuro.
5) Come funziona l'iscrizione ai tuoi corsi? Le aziende ti chiedono collaborazioni?
I portieri possono registrarsi tramite il mio sito web dove ho un calendario con le mie ore libere e anche un link di registrazione.
Se vogliono qualcos'altro oltre alle sessioni individuali nella mia accademia, possono scrivermi su Instagram, Messenger o e-mail e possiamo fare qualcosa come esercitazioni online, analisi delle partite, consulenza e poche altre cose.

Non cerco attivamente la cooperazione dei club, ma se c'è un club che vuole collaborare con me, sono aperto a discuterne.
6) C'è un'età minima nei tuoi corsi o sei aperto a diverse categorie? Ovviamente maschio e femmina?
Sono aperto a portieri di qualsiasi età. Penso di potermi adattare a portieri di qualsiasi livello e dare loro le migliori informazioni possibili di cui hanno bisogno nella loro età. Di sicuro lavoro con entrambi i sessi.
7) Cosa pensi che debba avere un atleta per diventare un portiere? Quali caratteristiche cerchi in ognuna di esse?
Penso che una delle cose più importanti che ogni atleta dovrebbe avere è la passione e deve amare il suo sport e quello che sta facendo. Deve anche lavorare sodo e non deve aver paura del fallimento.
Deve anche essere in grado di adattarsi a cose nuove e deve voler provare cose nuove che gli dice l'allenatore. Quando vedo queste capacità in un portiere con cui lavoro posso prevedere grandi cose per lui.

8) Come pensi che dovrebbe comportarsi un portiere durante un rigore? Che consiglio gli daresti?
All'inizio deve mantenere la calma e cercare di analizzare il piano del suo avversario. Da che parte sta andando, dove ha una palla (rovescio, diritto), quanto velocemente sta andando e molti altri aspetti a cui deve pensare. Ma per poter analizzare queste cose, deve restare calmo.
9) Se dovessi descrivere il ruolo del portiere di floorball in una lezione scolastica, come lo descriveresti?
Quello strano ragazzo che ha lasciato che gli altri gli sparassero e tutti ridono di lui, ma tutti hanno bisogno di lui nella squadra. Devono rispettarlo per quello che deve affrontare durante la partita e devono sapere che quando lo sosterranno per quello che sta facendo, farà tutto il possibile per vincere la partita.
