At Floorballmania, Sandro Breu.

Sandro Breu

Let's go back to Switzerland in one of the most beautiful championships, and let's meet a new athlete.

We are in the uhc alligator malans team, his jersey number is 95, he is a goalkeeper born in 1995, one meter eighty tall for 75 kg.  --> I changed my number.

Fast agile instinctive with great position a real problem for all the attackers who come up against him.

He has an excellent average saves his only goal is to make life difficult for the attackers. We are talking about Sandro Breu that floorballmania wanted to know.

Hi Sandro, we are happy to be able to interview you. Meanwhile, we ask you immediately how you are after this bad period of quarantine.

1) Sandro in the meantime introduced to our readers. Who you are and what you do, apart from being a great floorball goalie.

I have been playing floorball for Chur for the past six years. This season I made the change to UHC Alligator Malans because I want to take another step forward in my development.

I was able to celebrate the Vice World Champion title with the U19 national team in Hamburg in 2013 and at the Students World Championship in 2018.

Besides floorball I studied economics and will receive my BSC diploma in September.

Afterwards I will work in portfolio management. In my spare time I like to do sports or go on a hiking tour in the Swiss mountains.

2) At what age did you discover floorball and when did you understand that you would become a goalkeeper? With which first team did you start playing?

At the age of seven I discovered floorball for myself. That was in 2002 and I wanted to get into goal right away, but I wasn't allowed to take up this position until a year later.

I started my career at the Unihockey Rheintal Gators and went through all the junior levels there.

3) Last year the championships ended abnormally, how did your season go? And how were you in your role?

When the season was cancelled we were in the playoff quarterfinal against SV Wiler Ersigen with Chur. The first three games went 10:3, 10:2 and 13:4 to the series champions.

So you could say that we were saved from the worst. As second goalie I didn't get much playing time. But in the games where I was in, I could prove my qualities.

4) Have you resumed training at the moment? I know that you will participate in the Super Cup on 29 and 30 August, how are you preparing?

We have been training again with Alligator Malans since the end of May. At first we were only allowed to do the summer training in small groups.

Since more than a month we are back in normal team training.

We already had a training weekend in which we received tactical guidelines and in the next few days we will have a training camp, where we will also work intensively indoors.

5) When will you discover your opponent? What do you expect from the first semi-final? What do you expect from your team? And how do you think you will feel in this game?

The public voting will run until 16 August. The spectators can vote who our opponent will be. Personally, my guess is Zug United. I expect a great performance from my team.

The training weekend already showed that we already have a lot of quality on the ball and are ready for serious fights.

It will be a special game for me because I didn't play for Alligator last season and I'll still be able to play in the final tournament.

6) If you make it to the final, what will you tell your fellow players? What will you as a goalkeeper tell your defenders instead?

I won't tell them anything special, because everybody knows that when you reach the final you want to win it.

7) As a child we all had a myth to follow: As a goalkeeper, do you have a floorball character that inspires you?

My big brother was my role model. It was through him that I came to floorball and wanted to be a goalie like him. I went to watch a lot of his games and was fascinated how well he could catch the balls.

8) Let's play a game. Build a playing line with you as a goalkeeper, with the strongest players you have played or are playing with.

Nicola Bischofberger, Marcel Stucki, Tim Braillard, Sebastian Gafvelin, Paolo Riedi

9) On the score of 2 to 2 30 seconds before the end, the referee gives a penalty kick to the opposing team, what do you think in your head? When the player starts with the ball from midfield, what is your only thought? Do you have superstitious rites when something like this happens?

No, I have no rituals. My only thought is that I want to hold this ball, whatever the cost are.

10) When will yours begin? What do you expect from your team? And what do you expect from yourself instead?

The season should start on September 12, 2020 with the game against UHC Uster. Before that we have a few friendly matches.

With our current team roster we can play for the championship title. That will also be our goal.

From myself I expect another strong development at Alligator Malans.

Above all I want to be able to read game situations better and make progress in the mental area.

Kind regards

Sandro
